4. History teachers CARE about history. Non-history teachers don't. IF they did, they would be history teachers.
5. History teachers WANT to teach history. Non-history teachers don't. IF they did, they would be history teachers.

Hmmmm, seems like you're pretty well set that you're a non-history teacher so I don't know what I can do to make you feel better about your situation teaching history...
I'll throw out a couple of thoughts though. I guess I must like history in some sense even though I don't consider myself a history teacher. I kind of feel like when I teach my students about history, I'm teaching them about life and people (both of which I love), not history...I don't get to go into a lot of topics in depth or give too many details to my second graders because they can't process everything like older kids can. Yet, when I taught them about stuff like 9/11, the American Revolution, and the fight for civil rights and Dr. King, I felt like they were connecting with the past and the people of the past in a way that was so important to them understanding our country and why the world is the way it is.
Lol this is starting to sound too much like a blog entry itself instead of a comment...sorry to hijack your blog! :)
Just remember that even though you say you aren't a history teacher, you're definitely in that position for a reason and you're being used in ways you don't even know yet.
